Last year as chairman of the Veterans Affairs Committee, McAuliffe worked with the Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs to make great strides to meet our veterans’ needs. He supported legislation that would provide homebuyer assistance to veterans, prevent sweeps from state funds dedicated to veterans, increase benefits to veteran-owned businesses, and increased penalties for identify theft against military members.

McAuliffe was influential in the Illinois Warriors Assistance Program which offers care to veterans suffering from a Traumatic Brain Injury or Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

“When our brave service members return home, we have the duty and the honor to ensure that they receive the very best resources and support. It is important to ensure each and every one of our state’s military heroes is taken care of,” said McAuliffe.

House Republican Leader Tom Cross also appointed McAuliffe to serve on other committees for the 96th General Assembly including: Business and Occupational Licenses; Health Care Licenses; Personnel and Pensions; Transportation Regulation, Roads and Bridges; Youth and Family; and Public Safety Appropriations.
